University of Toronto Contemporary Music Ensemble (CME)

Wallace Halladay, director

The University of Toronto Contemporary Music Ensemble (Wallace Halladay, director, and Ukrainian) unites in its support of a country under siege. Beginning with the national anthem of Ukraine orchestrated for the CME by Ukrainian-Canadian composer Gary Kulesha, we continue with a profound performance of the Voice of Hope by Larysa Kuzmenko featuring the Gryphon Trio and soprano Natalya Gennadi. The performance continues with the Prayer for the Ukraine by Ukraine’s most distinguished living composer, Valentin Silvestrov. Alongside composers Hannah Kendall and George Lewis, we conclude with the Chamber Symphony of John Adams.
