Am I guaranteed a place in residence if I submit an application and deposit?

Applications are processed on a first-come first-served basis. Once you have been guaranteed a room in residence, you will receive a confirmation email. An acceptance package with room assignment, contract and student handbook is sent out in early August.

How long is the application review process?

The application review takes 5 to 7 business days once we have received your full application package.

What documents do I need to submit to apply for the residence?

Applicants must submit a room deposit, two reference letters (employer, teacher, professor, clergy, coach, etc.) and a completed application form.

What happens if I don’t receive an offer for residence?

If St. Vladimir cannot accommodate you, you will be notified and your deposit will be returned.

How do I pay my fees?

Invoices will be issued for each of the two residence fee installments. Payments can be made by cheque, e-transfer or cash. Debit and credit cards are not accepted.

Are there laundry facilities?

Each floor is equipped with a coin-operated washer and dryer, as well as an iron and ironing board.

Are the rooms equipped with Internet?

Each room has wired and WiFi connectivity included, as well as outlets for a landline telephone and cable TV. If you want to activate these services you will need to contact the supplier directly (e.g., Bell or Rogers). WiFi internet is also available in the cafeteria and other main-floor areas.

Is there a meal plan?

Yes. The meal plan is mandatory for student residents. If you have special dietary concerns, be sure to contact the residence office to see if you can be accommodated.

What should I bring with me to residence?

Generally, less is more! Bring clothes, towels, toiletries, bed linen, laundry detergent, and any items to personalize your room.

Electrical appliances such as kettles, toasters and hotplates are not permitted in the rooms. Each floor has a shared refrigerator. You are permitted to bring a mini (bar) fridge for your room.

Furniture is provided and we do not permit residents to remove existing furniture and replace it with their own.

Do I need to purchase insurance for my personal belongings?

St. Vladimir Institute assumes no responsibility for any property that is stolen or lost. We advise residents to obtain insurance coverage for their property independently or through family policy riders.

Can I bring my bicycle?

Although limited, indoor storage space is available. Bikes must be stored and locked in the designated area. Bikes are not allowed in residence rooms.

Can I bring a pet with me?

Pets of any kind are not permitted in residence.

What is the policy on visitors?

In order to reduce late night noise and disruptions, St. Vladimir Institute enforces visiting hours. Visitors are welcome but are required to vacate the residence by 9:00 pm on Sundays through Thursdays and by 11:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Visitors are not permitted in residence without their host present. Residents are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
