CHERNOBYL: THE AWAKENING and CHERNOBYL: THE LEGACY (1991), a two-part series produced and directed by Halya Kuchmij for the CBC in co-production with Ukrainian Television in Kyiv. “The Awakening“ focuses on how the people of Ukraine were betrayed by their government, and the awakening of a national consciousness. “The Legacy“of Chernobyl portrays the physical impact, fear and misinformation, the distrust of government, the change of consciousness. Original music by Kyrylo Stetsenko and rock group “Komy Vnyz”. Nominated for a Gemini for “Best Documentary” (Donald Brittain award).
